FASHION IS FREEDOM BY TALA RAASSI

REVIEW BY HAYLEY ROHEAD
Tala Raassi grew up in well off Tehran, but even so her story is an inspiring one. Brought up in a world of strict rules and regulations, particularly for women, Tala rebelled and from an early age fell in love with fashion.
She was punished for her desire to express her freedom through fashion. Though it only became her true calling once she had left Iran behind for a new life in America. She stumbles into the fashion industry, makes mistake after mistake, and is devastated with each set back. But, she never gives up.
I have to say that Tala is lucky to have had so many people supporting her and helping her along the way; from her parents who did their best for a rebellious girl in a conservative country and eventually moved her to America, to her friends that offer their time and go to all her shows; and also to her financial backer who seems to be the most patient and understanding man in history (we could all use an Eric in our life).
The writing style is light and easy, and the occasional humour helps to make light of the situations she finds herself in.
