KNIGHTFALL BY JAKE HALPERN AND PETER KUJAWINSKI

PUBLISHED BY PENGUIN RANDOM HOUSE
REVIEW BY JADE

Nightfall is about three kids named Kana, Marin and Line. These children live on a spooky island that they have to leave every fourteen years to go to the desert islands, a place where Marin's mother was born. After being accidentally left behind when trying to find Line while the boats were being prepared, Marin, Kana and Line must embark on an adventure to survive and get back to their loved ones. Marin and Kana are forced to forage for food as Line is injured and infected. As darkness falls, Kana feels something changing inside him. He soon finds out he is one of the creature that is chasing and trying to kill Marin, Line and him. When Kana accidentally hurts Line, he flees and finds his real mother Soraya who is also like him. When Marin and Line are captured by Kana’s kind, Kana and Soraya fight to save them from the clutches of Soraya’s father, Kanas grandfather. This book is frightening and very touching. The characters are quite lovely and almost alive. This book should probably be for people 11 and up. 5 stars.
