LIZZIE AND MARGARET ROSE BY PAMELA RUSHBY

REVIEW BY JADE
Lizzie and Margaret Rose is about two girls; one in England, one in Australia. Margaret Rose, who is in England, is sent to Australia after her house is bombed and her parents are killed in the war of 1940. She then meets her cousin, Lizzie and her Mum, Dad and their friends, Bill and Iris. Margaret is sent to school with Lizzie and is soon in the spotlight’s centre after being sent to year six when she found year five too easy. These two girls make up after helping one another to get away from bombs. When whispering goes around the house, Margaret feels once again lonely but is delighted to hear she will be staying at Lizzie’s house forever. This book is very touching and is written nicely. Every chapter switches between each girl’s feelings, like a diary entry with no “dear diary…”. I give this book 5 stars.
